Schoolyard Bully Convicted - Summary

Schoolyard Bully Convicted, by Glenn Bohn is about a 14 year old girl who commits suicide. Dawn-Marie Wesley, from Mission, B.C hung herself in a family home on November. 10, 2000. The schoolyard bully who cannot be named because she was charged under the federal Young Offenders Act was 15 years old at the time. Initially, Wesley and the girl convicted of criminal harassment were friends. They had sleepovers and had spent Halloween together. Dawn-Marie was threatened between November 5 and 10, during the last day of her life. On the day of suicide, the offender yelled at Dawn-Marie saying: "You are f---ing dead". In a suicide note she told her parents she was ending her life because three tough girls at her school were after her. "If I try to get help, it will get worse," Dawn-Marie wrote. "They are always looking for a new person to beat up and they are the toughest girls." The bully said she "very much" regrets her actions. "Please do not hold yourself accountable for her death," Cindy Wesley, the mother of suicide victim Dawn-Marie, tells another teenager in the bullying case."

·         Why do you think this occurred (use scientific language)?
·         Did everything go well during the lab? If no, what would you change next time?
Each ingredient made the water a little more denser. Then it came to a point that the water was denser than the egg. So the egg started to float.

Progress Reports Reflection

  1. What do you think of your progress report?  What are you happy with?  Why are you not happy with?
  2. What can you do during term 2 in order to improve your progress report?
I think my progress report was pretty good. I am happy with it. My parents are happy with it. Mr. Catton is happy with it...I think. I think I could have done a little better in Language Arts and Socials Studies. I need to work on writing skills like lenghty, smooth flowing paragraphs. I also want to continue working on researching skills to make my research a little more detailed. But overall I think I did a good job.

When someone meets me the first time...

When someone meets me the first time, I think the first thing they notice is my smile. I am always smiling when I meet someone the first time. It makes the other person feel good. Secondly, I think they notice the way I talk. I think that beacuse I usually talk frankly with other people. I am 85% of the time in a good mood. The other 15%....let's just say other than happy. Although someone can't really tell who I am by just looking at me. But I can be wrong because I can be a little over protective sometimes.

When I meet someone the first time...

When I meet someone the first time, I judge them by their looks, face expressions and how they talk to others. I don't really care about how they are dressed but sometimes it does matter. Sometimies clothing does tell a little about someone you meet the first time. Clothing can tell what kind of colours the person likes or dislikes. Looks and face expressions tell about the persons personality. If the person is smiling that tells about the person's mood and if they are confident or not. If the person is quiet, that tells if the person is shy or insecure. But after all you can't tell anything about the person untill you meet them.

Daniel's Story

In chapter 5, Daniel's father said that the radio was really important to the family.  He said that it gave them hope and...
"Hope was more important than bread."
What did he mean?  Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

I think he means that you need hope to live...Which means to eat and stay alive.  I agree and disagree at the same time.
I agree because if you don't have hope, you will think that you are nobody and you mean nothing to the world. Then you won't eat which means you want to die.
I disagree because you need food to live, have hope, and work.
So, I think both are important at the same time.  You need bread and hope in the situation that Daniel's family is in at the same time.

Are video games good or bad?

Do you think video games are good?...or bad? I think video games are good and bad at the same time.

I think they are good because they relax you when you are tired or stressed. They make you feel good. Your mind is automatically transferred right in the game. So you forget everything else...all your problems, feelings, and thoughts etc.
The way they are bad is that they effect your eye sight. They keep you unhealthy. Then you are not physically active. Which is very bad for your body.

Lice disease

I think working on this report was fun because I learned a lot about this disease. It also taught me a lot of other things too like how to post something on your blog and how to do research for a project.
next time, I will try to explain things in a little more detail and as much information I can get about the topic.

Why is Literacy so important?!

Why is Literacy so important?..or is it important?!

I think literacy is very important.  It's important to understand the world we live in.  If you are not literate you will have no idea what's going on in the world right now.  You need literacy to be able to read newspaper.
Example: You go to some place new and you can't read the signs or directions.  You will be totally lost.
Another example is: You go to a grocery store.  You are looking for something but you can't read sign.  You will need someone to guide you each and every time.  After you have whatever you wanted, you go to the cashier. The cashier tries to trick you.
That's why literacy is very important.  You need literacy in everyday life.  You have a higher risk of crime and a lower chance of getting a job.  Literacy shows you the way of living.
